Captain Jim Kozubal is the owner and lead captain of Island Adventures in Islamorada. A U.S. Air Force veteran and USCG-licensed captain, he specializes in private snorkeling, sandbar, sunset and custom boat charters around Islamorada and the Upper Keys.
Every charter is private, which gives the captain room to adjust the pace and itinerary around your group, current weather and water conditions, guest comfort and safety rather than forcing everyone into a fixed public-tour schedule.

Charters depart from 80500 Overseas Highway in Islamorada. The marina provides convenient dock access, parking, restrooms, showers, a pool and tiki area.

Island Adventures does not mix unrelated parties on the same charter. Your group has the boat to itself, which gives the captain room to adjust pace, activity order and location around the people actually onboard.

Local planning
Islamorada and the Upper Keys are the operating area.
Possible routes can include Florida Bay, the Islamorada Sandbar and Atlantic-side reef areas, but no specific reef, lighthouse, wildlife encounter or water condition is promised in advance. Wind direction, sea state, visibility, tide, current, travel time and guest ability all matter.
That local decision-making is a core part of the private-charter experience. A family with young swimmers may need a different plan than experienced snorkelers, and a breezy day may favor protected water instead of an exposed reef. The goal is the best practical day for your group, not forcing a destination because it appeared in a brochure.

A private boat, not a shared tour: each booking is reserved for your group of up to six. For seven to twelve guests, Island Adventures can arrange two boats and two captains when available.
Captain-led, condition-aware trips: Captain Jim is a U.S. Air Force veteran and USCG-licensed captain. Sandbar, snorkeling, sunset and custom itineraries are adjusted to wind, water conditions and guest comfort. Specific offshore reefs are never guaranteed.
A practical Islamorada departure: trips leave from Safe Harbor Angler House Marina, 80500 Overseas Highway. Snorkel gear, floating equipment and a cooler with ice are available for applicable charters.

Our primary boat: a comfortable 24-foot deck boat
Our shaded 24-foot deck boat offers cushioned seating and room to relax. Private charter guests also receive member-for-a-day access to Safe Harbor Angler House Marina, including a pool maintained around 88°F year-round and a tiki bar, subject to marina rules and availability.
